North Salem Ambulance Corps Honors President At Winter Gala

The evening’s honoree was NSVAC President Kurt Guldan, currently serving his 20th year as a volunteer with the corps. See Pics!

“Kurt’s entire life has revolved around our department,” said NSVAC Captain Maria Hlushko. “He joined as a senior in high school and a couple of years later he became president. He’s also a fireman with the Croton Falls Fire Department, an EMT with our department, and Coordinator of the Town Office of Emergency Management.”

Guldan is also a member of the School Safety Committee and the Drug Task Force.

Hlushko said it was Guldan who maneuvered through the Westchester County and EMS Council bureaucracy to establish a certified EMT training project at the NSVAC’s Daniel Road headquarters. The five-month course is now offered on an annual basis. It meets two evenings a week and runs from January through May.

Several years ago, Guldan was part of the team responsible for constructing the corps’ new headquarters on Daniel Road. The building provides shelter and comfort to anyone in need during major storms and outages and serves as a meeting place for groups such as the North Star Quilters. It can be rented for special events.

Captain Hlushko presented Guldan with a crystal award, etched with the words, “Presented to Kurt Guldan for 20 years of outstanding loyalty, dedication and leadership.”
